Jamborees at Burton and St. Paul

What is atrocious is they could come up with a consultants fee to have the LPCC golf course maintenance superintendant come and look at tell them what needs to be done, but not spend another $300 to get it in shape.

You mean to tell me that Jimbo has no hookups with any local business' or money people to come up with $300 to ensure there was grass on the field this year????????

I'm gonna go ahead and call bs on that one.

Heck Bobby Sanders first year at Coeburn he was able to go around to local businesses and come up with $5000 just to buy a mower to cut the grass.

Just got back from the Jamboree at Burton and there wasn't a whole lot of scoring tonight.

Not too bad a showing for Lee and Lebanon it looks like. Lee must be improved and Lebanon lost a lot and I am surprised they fared so well.

Lee is better,and we have some work to do at Kelly. I think we'll be fine (just have some adjustments to make). Thank goodness it was just a meaningless scrimmage though no doubt.

Yeah, Nortons field is a little torn up. looks bad. It it had only taken $300 to have that fixed the football team might have considered a Saturday fundraiser and split up. some doing a car wash someplace. some doing a bake sale / donations up walmart and maybe some selling tickets for a chance at something they have tucked away that would have been nice to give away. And before anyone here laughs at me about the bake sale, I know they have moms, granny's, girl friends moms and dads that can make something. I have seen the Wise team up walmart taking donations and teaming up with the cheerleaders with a bake sale. tough times calls for thinking outside the box. does the team still sell the 10% off cards they sold a few years ago??? they get you 10% off at some places you eat or a free drink or other stuff? I know that it doesnt' feel like the team should have to foot the bill for the field but when you are in a position of having and have not sometimes you have to do things you haven't done before.

Well guys it's not the fact of getting $300 from somewhere it's the principal of the matter also, as groundskeeping is in the general budget not athletics. Also, the consulting of the LPCC groundskeeper was early last month and the cost of spraying a pesticide is 10x the $300 cost. The assistant coaches found an organic way to fix it for about $300, but due to the new Superintendent is trying to put our coaching staff in their place their not gonna do any fundraising.
These new Admin have come in and seen the new locker room, weight room and team room and think people need to be taken down a few notches here, yet these same people were not here 5-6 years ago when the same coaches were having to make kids double up in lockers, mop up the floors because sewer backed up into the locker room, take kids uniforms to be washed at laundromat because washer wasn't working etc.
People donated a lot of money to have these upgrades done through private fundraising In the memory of a special young man, but to go back to the well and want to ask these citizens to fix the gamefield when we already pay taxes and it's included in the general budget, that is something I don't blame the coaches at all for being upset about, it just makes all the hard work and success they have had feel like it is for naught, when we can't have a decent playing surface and that's all anyone around town talks about. Yet these guy can drive back to Abingdon where they pay Washington Co. taxes and not worry about what happens in Norton.
